Can you convert to just WordPress, or just RWD, instead of converting to both.

Yes. We can convert to either RWD (Responsive Web Design) or to WordPress, independently. If we are doing both conversions, the RWD takes place first, then the WordPress conversion.

Why should the old site be kept?

Your existing look and feel can be converted to responsive HTML code, and to a WP theme, and will keep your current site looking much as it does now to users familiar with it. You will have the advantage of the new responsive behavior and of managing your content easily, but keep all the goodwill value your current site's design has created. Keep the good design, add to the behavior of the site.

If you wish to upgrade sections of your site to take advantage of WP add-ons, or for any other reason, we will be happy to quote any additional time that may take. This conversion project would be an excellent time to make modifications to enhance the site.

How long does the conversion project take?

Part of the quote for converting your site will include an estimate of the starting date, and a target completion date. Ideally we want to complete most projects within one calendar month from the starting date, but large projects may require more time. Negotiation of these dates may be conducted prior to the mutual agreement to convert the site.

If we do the two conversions at the same time, does it save money over doing them at separate times ?

Yes. The savings are considerable. Request a quote doing both ways to see the difference in doing them at the same time over doing them one at a time.

Are you able to convert any and all sites?

Not always. Sites which have significant dynamic code (e-commerce sites, for instance) may present great difficulty in making modifications to the programming code which produce the dynamic pages. We will examine all sites carefully and quote a conversion price only when we believe we can successfully produce a high quality result.

Can you redesign sites during conversion?

There is a difference between Conversion and Redesign. Conversion uses the existing CSS and layout to produce pages that look almost exactly the same as the existing page. Redesign may modify any design element, layout or color or look and feel, using changes to CSS and HTML to produce a changed page. Theta will be happy to discuss and quote prices for redesign, above and beyond our standard conversion quote.

What are the hosting requirements?

Hosting requirements depend on the type of conversion requested.

If a conversion only to RWD is requested, we assume that whatever hosting is running the site now will work as well for the new code, which is just modified HTML and CSS.

However, if the conversion is from non-WordPress to WordPress, we must determine that the target hosting environment can at least run WordPress properly. This is usually easy to determine.

If the current hosting environment is not appropriate we can discuss finding the best target hosting server.

Can I keep my current site's hosting provider?

If we can determine that your current hosting environment will work for the converted code (see above question), then there is no need to change hosting provider.

Theta Systems has made arrangments with a good hosting service for those sites that wish to receive high quality hosting and support for their newly converted site. This is completely optional.
